With an element of surprise

A Karunakaran whose latest film, ‘Chinnadana Neekosam’, releases today, says he feels like a scared school kid as and when his film is ready for the public viewing. “I am waiting to see how everyone reacts to the film,” he tells us sheepishly.

It took us a lot of prodding for him to speak about Nithiin’s character in the film. “He is playing a college student,” he says reluctantly. “The film is a pure love story interspersed with family drama,” he says, while adding, “If I tell you more, then what will you watch in the theatre?”

Nithiin (whose name in the film too is Nithiin) has earlier been a part of three other love stories and Karunakaran says there will be nothing in common with them. “The directors of those films have their own style and I have my own. The movie will answer all your doubts.”

“Working with Nithiin was a great experience. I have known him since long and it is a great feeling that we have finally teamed up,” says the director, who is known for churning beautiful love stories. He adds that the lead actress of the film, Mishti, was a great addition to the cast. “I wanted a fresh face for the story and she perfectly fitted the bill. She has done a great job,” he shares.

In his earlier films ‘Darling’ and ‘Endukante Premanta’, there were elements of surprise as the film drew towards intermission and director hints at something similar in this film too. He replies in the affirmative, saying, “There will be an unexpected twist but that comes as the film inches towards climax.”

On a parting note, when asked whether he has made any plans to direct his favourite actor Pawan Kalyan, who he collaborated for ‘Tholi Prema’ and ‘Balu’ earlier, anytime soon, he was quick to react, “I am ever ready to work with him as I am his admirer. So if he calls me, I am game anytime. However, I don’t have a script for him as of now.”
