Karthikeya, a surprise hit in Telugu

While every other filmmaker went ga ga over his movie trying to convince the audience how different the movie was, one low budget movie which was hardly spoken about silently rose up the box office ladder raking in phenomenal collections at the box office.

Directed and written by debutant Chandoo Mondeti, the film featured Nikhil, Colours Swathi, Rao Ramesh in the lead roles. The thriller together with comic elements in the right scenes made it a blockbuster hit at the box office.

The film became such a hot topic in filmnagar circles that the industry big wigs called up Chandoo to congratulate him on his good work. Karthikeya was a welcome change for film buffs who are so used to mass masala entertainers. Nikhil's performance was much talked about so was the director's effort.
