His voice is so majestic and we have grown up watching his films and learning from him. And to hear his voice and not to perform like him, it was easier said than done,” said the Tamil superstar. Accompanied by co-star Akshara Haasan, he was speaking at a promotional event of the film in town on Saturday.

“We had to be very careful on the sets. We ensured that we didn’t waste his time,” he smiled. Akshara who plays a character who is in love with films and gets in between the egos of two artists, played by Big B and Dhanush, said that when the offer to star in ‘Shamitabh’ came her way, she had no second thoughts about it.

“When Balki sir (director) called me, I thought he will rope me as his assistant director but to my surprise he offered me a role. It turned out to be a challenge to work with superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush,” she said. Akshara who started her career as an assistant director said she hopes to direct a film one day.

“I will continue to act but if a good script comes my way I will definitely direct,” said the debutante actress. Akshara also spoke about her parents Kamal Haasan and Sarika. “Though they lead their own lives now, I’m very close to them. I take their advice in every aspect of my life,” she said.
