One of the few young character artistes of Tollywood, actor Adivi Sesh is pinning high hopes on his outing in ‘Dongaata’, a crime thriller, in which he shared screen space with actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu. The actor says he was not the first choice for the project. “Director Vamsy narrated the script to me at a coffee shop sometime ago.

Even I couldn’t predict the number of twists and turns my character goes through – a factor which led me to sign the project,” he smiles, adding, “We later discussed in detail my mannerisms, hairdo, walking style and look for the film. Another interesting thing about the film was that I started shooting for it two weeks after the narration.

Though I was not the maker’s first choice I’m happy that I became their choice at last.”The actor plays Venkat, ‘an idea man’ in the film. He says, “Along with my group I device a strategy to kidnap a happening actress Shruti (played by Lakshmi) to make easy money.

All possible mishaps happen as we abduct her and the situations that arise from this episode are dealt in a humorous way.”It was also the first time he has tried his hands at comedy. “The first few days were difficult as I was new to the genre but once I got a hang of the timing it was easy.”

The suave actor has rubbed shoulders with Brahmanandam in the film and describing the experience, he says, “He gives a sequence his own makeover whereas I follow the script. He bettered his sequences which in turn helped my role.”

The actor who has also directed a couple of films – ‘Karma’ and ‘Kiss’ – is not in a mood to go behind the camera once again. “I felt the need to understand the audience more after ‘Kiss’ released. Since I’ve grown up in the US I have a different taste to that of the Telugu audience.

Maybe after featuring in some more films and after gaining more experience, I can direct a film again,” says the actor who will be shooting for ‘Kshanam’ up next. A PVP production, it stars Adah Sharma and Anasuya. “I will be shooting for it in the US for the next four weeks.”
