Prabhat Bhattacharya to direct Kannu

Prabhat Bhattacharya who started his journey as an actor in small screens with Balaji Telefilms and other big production houses, is ready to don the director's hat with a film titled 'Kaanu'.

From Bengal, his birth place, Prabhat shifted to the Mumbai some years back to attend a martial arts tournament and was soon fascinated by theater.

Making films based on sports is a difficult task, especially in Indian cinema, but versatile actor Prabhat Bhattacharya is passionately charged up with his “Kaanu”.

Why Football as film's backdrop?

Prabhat reciprocated, "I myself a Football player and very much passionate about the game."

Prabhat added,“There aren’t many movies in Indian cinema about football, there are a few in world cinema, sports genre is still untapped in our industry."

“Kaanu definitely have sports backdrop, Football is world's number '1' game, but my take is actually what is this game? What is the status of this game in our country?” Says Prabhat.

Prabhat continues, “Only 17-18 countries play cricket and we call it a world event, Kaanu doesn’t talk about cricket, it talks about football, which is played in 197 countries, it is a huge and world event, only 25 countries get to qualify and participate and reach finals."

What special about Kaanu?

“Kaanu doesn’t just talk about football; it talks about, what it takes to be a footballer in this country. Besides, Kaanu portrays the most important part that is human relations, efforts and the emotions” says Prabhat.

“Kaanu will be a spectacular movie, not because of look or feel, but about the point of view, with which the movie is made” says Prabhat.

“A film which is driven by heart, which has a great narrative, which has a very interesting drama, shall certainly surprise everyone” added Prabhat.

Cast?

About the star cast of the film, Director Prabhat told media, "Anupam kher, Smita Jaykar, Shishir Sharma, Shekar Das Gupta in pivotal roles".

Kaanu directed by Prabhat Bhattacharya, to be produced by Sai Sapney Entertainment and presented by Gaurango Filmcraft Academy.

Kaanu shall win the audience heart in 2016.
