Superstar Mahesh Babu will be the first actor, among his peers, who has set his eyes on expanding his Tamil market. Yes, according to a little birdie, the actor’s next, ‘Brahmotsavam’, will be a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, thereby marking his entry into Tamil turf.

“The script is such that it will match the sensibilities of both the Telugu and Tamil audiences and hence the makers have decided to make it a bilingual. Moreover, PVP cinema, which is producing the film along with MB entertainment, is very familiar with Tamil cinema and its business,” the source says.

To rewind a bit, Mahesh, who is fluent in Tamil, was set to make his entry into Tamil filmdom with the Telugu-Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’. However, it failed to materialise. A similar fate met the historical film he was to do with Mani Ratnam.

And then, most recently, another Telugu-Tamil bilingual with Mani was put on the backburner. It was to see Nagarjuna in a key role. Nonetheless, it looks like the stage is finally set for the actor’s foray into Tamil cinema with the Sreekanth Addala directorial.

When contacted, the director remained unavailable for comment. ‘Brahmotsavam’, which will see Rakul Preet Singh and Pranitha alongside Mahesh, is a family entertainer. It is about the importance of family, traditions, culture and our roots, the team said recently about the film. A major part of it will be shot across Vijayawada.
