When beauty met luxury. Amidst the legion of extravagantly dressed models walking the ramp at the curtain raiser of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015, poised in finesse was Sonakshi Sinha, the Bollywood actress best known for her roles in the Dabaang series.
BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015 to come to Hyderabad
Amidst the legion of extravagantly dressed models walking the ramp at the curtain raiser of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015, poised in finesse was Sonakshi Sinha, the Bollywood actress best known for her roles in the Dabaang series.
It was indeed one of those rare moments when a diva or rather a celebrity who has a cult following shared the spotlight with something as elegant as the beauty at her bridal best. That was the 2015 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé. The actress looked every bit the bride as she stepped out in wedding attire to pose with the car launched at the event in Taj Palace, Delhi, last week.
"We have a car for you, now we'll just have to look for a groom," said Philipp von Sahr President, BMW Group India, as she made her way out of the car. "It is difficult to find a groom for me anyway, and if you give me that car, I'll be a runaway bride," Sonakshi quipped.
Adding to the panache, the country’s most acclaimed fashion designers presented the preview of their couture collection and upcoming trends for fashion week which this time will be visiting seven cities and Hyderabad will be one of the places to witness the event that is looked forward to, by the crème de la crème of the fashion industry.
BMW India is the title sponsor of the fashion week which will also see a glittering tie up with Swarovski India. The curtain raiser event kicked off with a ramp walk of designers with, as said before, a preview of their designs.
The designers were Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Ashima Leena, Falguni Shane Peacock, Gauri Nainika, JJ Valaya, Jyotsna Tiwari, Shantanu Nikhil, Suneet Varma and Tarun Tahiliani accompanied by models who showed some jaw dropping bridal wear.
“At the heart of BMW is not only brilliant automotive engineering but also the desire to evoke emotions and spread joy,” said Philipp von Sahr while he spoke about the initiative. “Driving a BMW is, in itself, a mark of character. And, BMW Individual is the most exclusive way to drive a BMW.
The collection presented by renowned designers at the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2015 matches the philosophy of BMW Individual - a perfect blend of inspiration and creative freedom to design an expression of your individual character.
The BMW Individual Collection offers a wide range of high-quality options for discerning customers. The finest leathers, exceptionally sophisticated interior trims and brilliant paint finishes can be chosen to further personalise your BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé,” Automobiles are not just the end of a creative process but a beginning.
Likewise, an Indian wedding is a celebration of emotions, aesthetics, craftsmanship and opulence, the event was an embodiment of these fine thoughts. Cut to the 2015 BMW 6 series Coming on like a distillation of all the best design elements of the current 5, 6 and 7 Series Beemers, the Gran Coupé is a squat, sleek slab of automotive cool.
It retains the iconic BMW shark nose, but it also has the profile to match: a smooth, flowing bodyline that tapers beautifully, right down to its neat square backside. In an exercise in elegantly aesthetic tailoring, the German designers have worked miracles to disguise what is, on the scales at least, a heavyweight piece of hardware.
The new gen is larger, more luxurious, and more high-tech than ever, and it’s available in more body types than ever before, too. Styling is one thing the 6-Series range shares across its range, with evocative, finely rendered lines defining the front end, and, in coupe and Gran Coupé forms, the arching rooflines you expect of a sporty luxury car.
A taut, sculpted hood, stylized, muscular flanks, and neatly tucked rear end are also common to the range, further telegraphing the 6-Series’ performance potential. From the 640i’s 315-horsepower, 3.0-liter turbocharged in-line six-cylinder to the 650i’s 400-horsepower 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 to the 560-horsepower M6, the 6-Series range packs speed and performance that scales with the owner’s desires.
The Gran Coupé offers four doors in a sedan-coupe form factor, with what BMW calls 4+1 seating. Rear-seat access is easier than with the true 6-Series coupe, and the rear seat is a touch roomier, too. Driving dynamics of the two-door are largely preserved, but if you’re after a high-performance four-door for people-moving, the 5-Series or even larger 7-Series may be better options. The all India ex-showroom prices of the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé are as follows BMW 640d Eminence: Rs 1.14 crore BMW 640d Design Pure Experience: Rs 1.21 crore
