Superstar Mahesh Babu says that the box-office result of SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ is very important for the entire industry. "All of us should be proud that a film like 'Baahubali' is a product of the Telugu film industry. We should pray that the film turns out to be a blockbuster as its success is very important for all of us.

Its result will impact all of us," Mahesh said. He was speaking after being named the goodwill ambassador of Rainbow Children Hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday. Mahesh's ‘Srimanthudu’, which was earlier set to release on July 17, exactly a week after 'Baahubali' hits the screen, has been pushed to August 7.

"We didn't postpone our film because we were scared to compete with 'Baahubali'. I think it deserves to a solo release and we should respect it. It's healthy to have two or three weeks' gap between big releases," he said. Talking about his association with the hospital, he said he was happy to be part of any initiative for children.

“Both my children – Gautham and Sitara – were born at Rainbow Children Hospital. My son was born a premature baby at the hospital. And then it continued when my daughter was born a few years later. I have seen their work personally and it is the reason I am endorsing the hospital,” he said.

Asked if he would collaborate with his son to campaign for the hospital, he said, "Why not? It's a children's hospital and if we get an opportunity to endorse together, I really don't mind." Mahesh added that his profession made him realise that he can play an important role in good initiatives.

“I am very lucky to be an actor because through this profession I have learnt that I can touch lives and make a difference. I was recently called to the hospital to meet a little boy who was my fan. I met and spent some time with him and he seemed elated to see me.

A month later, the doctors briefed me that he has recovered fast and is doing well. That moment I felt blessed,” he shared. When quizzed how he felt on learning that Forbes labelled him as the “best looking south Indian star”, a blushing Mahesh said, “I feel good about it and I thank my fans for everything.”
