Here’s why Sai Madhav Burra was roped in for Nag’s Soggade. After being shot for more than two months this year, work on superstar Nagarjuna-starrer ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ wasn’t resumed until late last month.

After being shot for more than two months this year, work on superstar Nagarjuna-starrer ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ wasn’t resumed until late last month. Though there were murmurs that the film was put on hold, Nag, it seems, has discovered new energy, thanks to the addition of writer Sai Madhav Burra, known for films like ‘Krishnam Vande Jagudgurum’ and ‘Malli Malli Idhi Raani Roju’.

A source close to Annapurna Studios says, “40 per cent of ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ had been wrapped up when Nag decided to stop the progress. Though he was impressed with the taking style of new director Kalyan Krishna, he wasn’t completely pleased with the footage. It was during this period that the name of Sai Madhav was recommended to him.

While Nag was ready to re-shoot the whole film, Sai – after watching the footage – insisted that he will alter the script and screenplay in a way that it will balance out the already shot 40 per cent too. “When Sai met Nag with the revised version, he was mighty impressed.

The actor later asked him to associate with the project creatively, to which he readily obliged.” A joint venture between Nag and Ram Mohan, the film sees the former playing dual roles – that of a father and son. It’s a full-length entertainer peppered with fantasy elements. Ramya Krishna and Lavanya Tripathi are on board as Nag’s leading ladies.
