Here's an exclusive interview from the lad who has won numerous hearts with his dancing skills:
Early days:
I did my schooling and college from Mumbai. I started working when I was a kid. I used to work as a salesman as a kid to support my family. Then I joined Balaji as an editor and then got 3 years scholarship with Terrance and then Dance India Dance and then there was no looking back. I am a hard working person and believe that hard work never goes waste. I am a family person and love my life.
Guiding force:
My parents. They are the source of my inspiration. Whenever I was down or I lost hopes, they were always there to motivate me and push me forward. Besides my friends who have always been there for me through my thick and thin. There were times where all I wanted to do was leave everything and join the rat race because it looks sensible and easy but I guess god had plans for me and he guided me in form of my parents.
Inspiration:
I always wanted to be an actor and Dancing was something I was born with. As a child I used to watch TV and try to learn dancing. In my school days, I was the only guy in the whole school who used to dance so I was quite popular. The first song I ever performed was Oh Oh Jane Jana (Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya). I used to participate in lots of competition as well. I have worked as a salesman to pay for my dance training, post that I was an editor at Balaji, I have edited shows like Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi bahu Thi, Kahin to Hoga, Kitni Mast hai Zindagi and so on and so forth. Later I got a 3-year scholarship at Terrance Dance academy. Post which I auditioned for Dance India Dance season 1 and then there was no looking back.
Journey of reality shows:
So far so good. It was difficult, full of struggle, hard work, at times I was down and depressed but not out. Yes, there have been ups and downs but I think that's the part and parcel of the game and one should know how to bounce back in life. One thing I have learned is once you make your name in the industry, its 10 times more hard work than ever.
On being the Nach Baliye finalists:
On top of the world. I have never been a finalist in any of the reality show. I am excited, nervous, scared and looking forward to the D-day. I hope I can give my best yet again and if not the trophy may I win hearts of the people.
Importance of winning the Nach Baliye trophy:
Nach Baliye trophy is important to me but I really hope the trophy goes to the couple who deserves it. I am neither ambitious nor competitive, I just believe in hard work. If I have given my best and if I deserve it, it will come to me. But if there is some other couple who has worked harder than me, then I guess the trophy belongs to them.
Venture into Acting:
I always had that acting ka KEEDA in me. I was a full on Nautanki when I was a kid. But I never got an opportunity to work on it or join some acting course. But with my parent’s support I got into dancing and as luck would have it today I am happy and I have everything I wanted. Thanks to the prayers of my loved once
Big Screen aspirations:
I was a part of ABCD. It was a small but important role. I am meeting people, and I am reading scripts hopefully soon you will see me on the big screen.
Take on dance reality shows:
Dance reality show has given me everything I wanted. I am what I am because of Dance India Dance. I am happy that someone came up to an idea of making a dance reality show. It gives people like me to show my talent to the world. I am sure there is a lot more talent in India and dance, and someday someone else's life would also change.
Perks of being a star:
Fame, Money and the Love you get from People. To be honest I like the attention I get from my Fans. I hope I have a great journey and I inspire a lot of people while I am on it.
Advice for the aspiring dancers/actors:
Life is not easy and it will never be easy. But you need to try harder because that 1% extra effort helps a lot in achieving your goal. Also, just pray that success doesn't come easily to you because then you won't be able to enjoy it. Lastly, give your best, pray and stick to your roots because your roots don't let you fall.
