Taapsee Pannu is back and how. After abstaining from doing Telugu films for a while, the New Delhi girl, following her contract to star alongside Sundeep Kishan for a yet-untitled Telugu-Tamil bilingual, has signed another film. The film in question stars Rana Daggubati in the lead role. While there were several actresses in reckoning to play the part; Hans Talkies has learnt that the makers gave their vote to Taapsee.

This would be the first time that Taapsee and Rana would be seen together in a Telugu film. Though they were a part of Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Baby’, they didn’t have any sequences together.

A source close to the unit informs, “The leading lady role has a lot of scope to perform and has a quirky side to it. The makers felt Taapsee can pull off the role and have eventually consulted her. Impressed with her character and the film in total, she has allotted dates.”

The war drama deals with the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan-deployed submarine during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Rana will be seen as a naval officer on board the Indian submarine. Sankalp, a debutant, is wielding the megaphone for the film, which is partly based on the book Blue Fish, written by the director himself. It is already on floors and is being made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi simultaneously by PVP Cinema.
