Amyra likely to be Puri’s next heroine

Not long ago Amyra Dastur was in contention to star in a couple of big-ticket Telugu films but it looks like she has finally hit the jackpot. Sources say that the makers of Puri Jagannadh’s yet-untitled next, which introduces Ishan, nephew of producer CR Manohar, as the protagonist, are in negotiations with Amyra for the project.

The pretty actress made her South debut with Tamil film ‘Anegan’ opposite Dhanush and won accolades for her portrayal. “Amyra is the leading contender for the lead actress role. We were pleased with her performance in ‘Anegan’ and believe that she has the right mix of glamour and innocence required for our part. A better picture will emerge in a fortnight,” said a source close to the director.

Initially, the film was supposed to be made in Kannada, but since Puri is a potent name in Telugu, the makers decided to make it a bilingual. The film also has a scope for another actress and an official announcement about the final cast and crew is expected to be made soon. It will roll once Puri is done with promoting ‘Loafer’.
