Akhil gets high five from dad

Despite opening to not-so promising reviews, Akhil Akkineni-starrer ‘Akhil’ has managed to amass some impressive figures at the BO. The proud father Nagarjuna, while doing the press for the film on Thursday in Hyderabad, said he couldn’t have asked a better debut for his son. “I’m happy to see everyone blessing him and showering praises on his performance. We are flooded with phone calls since release and Amala is literally on cloud nine,” said an enthusiastic Nag.

When asked to rate his son’s performance, he said, “If you rate my first film as an actor, I don’t have any option than to walk away from this presser (laughs). For a newcomer, Akhil did very well and I will give five out of five. The way I see it he can improve from henceforth with experience.

“Just because he is my son I’m not being kind to him. I’ve watched ‘Kanche’ recently and was blown away by Varun Tej’s performance. He effortlessly slipped into the shoes of a soldier.” Nag said once the hullabaloo surrounding the release is over, he will sit down and dole out some suggestions to Akhil.

“Dad always emphasised on diction and how to go about it and I will tell Akhil, who has a good voice, about this aspect. I will also tell what he needs to do and what he can do,” said Nag. A VV Vinayak directorial, ‘Akhil’ was shepherded by Nithiin’s father N Sudhakar Reddy on Sreshth Movies.
