Post ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Gopala Gopala’, Venky was in a fix over his next project despite several offers coming his way. While a lot has been speculated about the actor’s next film and his role, the actor has finally given the nod to Maruthi’s film.

Interestingly, Venky will be seen as a humourous cop. Apparently, the actor was in splits when he was narrated about his characterization. The last time he played a cop role was in ‘Eenadu’ (2009), a remake of Wednesday.

A source, close to the actor, says “Maruthi has penned an original story keeping Venky’s image in mind. The actor appears to have liked the satire-laden script. His quirky characterization and antics will hog the limelight.”

The actor-director was originally supposed to team up last year but the film was shelved when a writer claimed that the story of the film was his. This time around, Maruti made sure that he penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film.

The promising director has zeroed in on Nayanathara as the leading lady in the comic caper. This is the third time the couple is set to team up after the earlier two successes ‘Lakshmi’ and ‘Tulasi’.

The film, to be bankrolled by S Radhakrishna, is expected to be formally launched soon while the regular shooting will start in December.
