In a letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday, Bajirao's descendant Prasadrao Peshwe has alleged that historical information have been altered while portraying the Maratha king and his wife Kashibai and Mastani in the film. The letter also has a mention of 'Pinga' dance form which is an important part of Marathi culture and has been transformed into an 'item song' and the costumes and dance direction are on that line. He further has demanded the government to review the film and take a decision accordingly.
Priyanka Chopra who made her presence felt through a video conference choose to comment on this controversy she said, "This film is a part of history. This film is based on a book called 'Rau' and that is the author's version of what happened in Bajirao and Mastani's love story. So look at it as a beautiful rendition. Epic saga told from vision of Sanjay Leela Bhansali."
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had left much before the media Q&A sessions while Ranveer and Deepika chose not to speak on this controversial issue. The trailer launch saw the dawn amidst a lot of chaos while the theatre was jam packed. No sooner did Ranveer enter the theatre, he mesmerized all with his Bajirao look.
