Lavanya Tripathi is a busy bee these days. While her forthcoming film, ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ (SCN), with superstar Nagarjuna will open in screens next week, she shall wrap up her portions in Allu Sirish’s untitled flick this month and February, post which she will jet off to the US to start a new film which will revolve around her primarily.

To be shot in a start-to-finish schedule, it will be a “unlike Telugu film”. While she is tight-lipped about the technicians who will work for it, we hear it will be helmed by debutant Sashi and will be a road movie. “I’m yet to sign it but if I do it, I’m required to go for a slight makeover,” she shares.

Presently, the petite actress is looking forward to the release of ‘SCN’ in which she played younger Nagarjuna’s wife (The film sees Nag in dual roles—that of a father and son). Naturally she was “apprehensive to play a married woman Seetha” to begin with. “But I was like, ‘I’m an actor and should be open to all kinds of roles.’

The character has a lot of depth as it was unlike a normal heroine who yells, laughs and gets annoyed easily,” she informs. The Dehradun-born was required to prep-up for the part. “I had to learn on how to drape a saree as I would be seen sporting only sarees for my role.

I love sarees, though I don’t sport them on a regular basis. So Supriya (Nagarjuna’s niece and executive producer of SCN) advised me to wear sarees for an hour every day to get used to them but I couldn’t heed to her,” she laughs, adding, “After a couple of days of shooting, I became comfortable in them.”

The actress has rubbed shoulders with Ramya Krishna in the film. Describing the experience as “amazing”, she shares, “Now, she is one of my favourite people. She is open about all her feelings and if there’s something in her mind, she will put it in a polite way. She treated me like a friend on sets.”

In the industry for the past four years, Lavanya fairly had a rather sedate life with no controversies or link-up rumours surrounding her. Ask her whether she feels bored being single and she responds, “It’s very entertaining actually. You can go out and comeback whenever you want to. Moreover, my parents are there for me, so I don’t feel like I’m alone.”

Is she open to a relationship in the future? “I can’t say I was in a relationship earlier. I feel much better and happier being single,” she declares, pointing out indirectly that she has been in a relationship earlier. “Obviously I want to get married and have kids but not now. I’m quite ambitious. I left my city Dehradun for work, not to get married or to be in a relationship.

I would rather work now and bother about wedding later,” she declares. On her appalling slender figure, she points out that “work took a toll” on her. “Nothing stresses me except work. In between I was not keeping well too,” she sighs, adding, “Moreover, I was asked to lose weight for Sirish’s film as I play a college girl in it.”
