Hyderabad: As superstar Balakrishna is all set to celebrate his 56th birthday on Friday, his myriad fans are a frenzied lot with the release of the first look of his 100th film ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ on Thursday. The much-hyped flick, which portrays Nandamuri scion as a warrior, is getting ready to enthrall his huge fan following across the world.

Balakrisha carried the legacy of his father, legendary NTR for the last three decades with consummate ease and shared screen space with his father and stole the show with his performance as Abhimanyu in ‘Dana Veera Sura Karna’, despite NTR essaying four key roles in the mythological film.

“He is the only actor among his contemporaries like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh who has acted in varied genres including folklore, mythology, history, social and family dramas to live up to the legacy of NTR.

He also did a sci-fi entertainer ‘Aditya 369’ and a deglamourised role in ‘Bhairavadweepam’ to showcase his acting prowess,” says producer Prassana Kumar, who claims that Balayya conquered overseas market with blockbuster ‘Legend’ and silenced his detractors.

After the stupendous hit ‘Thatamma Kala’ in 1974 where he was a star kid, Bakrishna delivered his maiden blockbuster as hero in ‘Mangamagari Manavavudu’ and never looked back ever since.

“He is the only Telugu star to score six hits in one year and also only star to score the first 100 days run in Secunderabad city with ‘Anasuyamma Gari Alludu’.

He launched many producers, directors, heroines and scored blockbusters with directors Kodi Ramakrishna, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Murali Mohan Rao, Kodandarami Reddy, B Gopal and Boyapati Srinu to name a few.

He turned to be a matinee idol with blockbusters like ‘Samarasimha Reddy’, ‘Narasimha Naidu’, ‘Simha’ and ‘Legend’, though his rivals wrote him off and sustained his stardom with lakhs of fan clubs,” says distributor Bharat Bushan.

Apart from his acting skills and stardom, Balakrishna imbibed discipline and dedication from NTR. . “He would be ready with make-up by 6 am for a 7 am shot and doesn’t mind shooting round-the-clock.

So he can be an inspiration for many star sons. He doesn’t hike his remuneration after a hit and doesn’t allow over-budgeting too, which other stars could emulate. Even his social work and his big role as the MLA of Hindupur make him a multi-tasker,” says producer Komineni Venkateswar Rao.
