An architect by profession, Indeep Bakshi’s passion for music took over his profession and the 26-year-old, who hails from Delhi, is taking it to greater heights. Only three years in the music industry and Bakshi already has hit numbers like “36 Aayengi, 36 Jayengi”, “Tere Liye” and the album “Billionaire” to his name.
Indeep’s claim to fame is the hip number “Saturday Saturday”, which was especially a hit among youth. It was only by chance that the song featured in the movie. Karan Johar was looking for a peppy number; he heard Indeep’s song and decided to include it in ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’.
“Honestly speaking, I made this song in “masti”. The love I received from everyone was overwhelming. It became a hit only because it was catered to the taste of the youth, which was my main motto,” Indeep shares.
There’s an interesting back story to the song. “It was my friend’s birthday and we were all partying. Suddenly, I got this idea of composing a song for her, “Uski ek baat hoti thi, and every Saturday party karni hai!” I used to tease her saying “Ki Saturday Saturday karti raheti hai”. Next thing we know, we have a fun number. “Saturday” was a tease for a girlfriend and it converted into a huge song,” he adds.
Indeep’s new track “Bad Waali Feeling” has touched four million views on YouTube. The song, which has quite a lot of adult content, has garnered negative reviews for its lyrics.
“I am a proud Sikh and a few people did not like me wearing a turban and “kada” in the song. There are other issues with the lyrics as well. But, the people creating the ruckus don’t see that the song is going viral and that it has been selected for a movie. I am a producer and I make songs for all kinds of people,” says Indeep.
“People’s mindset should change. We have bigger issues than these songs,” he adds. Indeep has that certain spark and charm about himself which he effectively showcases in his videos. His lyrics are conversational and he writes them to cater to the youth. “I write it the way that youngsters talk today and my music style is mostly R&B, House and international,” he says.
The young talent is not only known for peppy numbers. His versatility was evident in his sad song “Tere Liye”, which featured in the movie ‘Delhi Wali Salim Girlfriend’. “This track was neither for sale nor was meant to be released. The song is an incident of my life, which happened to me in a bad relationship and I wrote it when I was in Shimla. At that time I wrote two songs; one is “Tere Liye” and another one is “2 AM”,” shares Indeep.
Bringing different musical styles and genres together and fusing it all with South Asian influences ultimately is what constructed the “Indeep Sound”. He has worked alongside several celebrity singers and actors like Badshah, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Raftaar.
Music, cars and bikes are Indeep's interests. He possesses a large classy collection of the same. A sports junkie by choice, he is always inclined and willing to try his hand at new things. Though his interests keep changing, his ultimate passion is luxury and music and he is constantly on the hunt for something bold and adventurous.
Speaking about his future projects, Indeep informs, “There are a lot of things lined up. To start up with, I am coming up with a track “Gora Rang” in which I will be featuring with an upcoming artiste Ace Sai-B. “Gora Rang” is a remix, which I have done and is in desi style which the youth will surely love.
“My Sikh fan says that I am not wearing a turban in the videos and not respecting my religion so for them I am coming up with a special track, “Singh honde badhsah te Kaur hondi queen”. This is a pure bhangra track, which has Punjabi culture in it.
Besides this, my new track “2 AM” which is very close to me will be out soon,” he adds. The young artiste will soon be seen featuring with Sunny Leone for a song in the title track “Paheli Bari Ki” from the movie ‘Tina and Lolo’. And, he’s really excited about that.
