The teaser of the latter, starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh, was unveiled recently and it broke the internet straightway. Keerthy’s cute act in it has wowed many and Prasanna promises she will be a revelation once the film opens on December 22.
‘Nenu Local,’ which he penned, is what transpires when a sub-inspector (played by Naveen Chandra) and a full-on attitude guy (Nani) fall for the same girl (Keerthy Suresh)
With two of his films– ‘Nanna Nenu Naa Boyfriends’ and ‘Nenu Local’ scheduled to release back-to-back, writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada of ‘Cinema Chupista Maava’ fame admits he could not have asked for more.
The teaser of the latter, starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh, was unveiled recently and it broke the internet straightway. Keerthy’s cute act in it has wowed many and Prasanna promises she will be a revelation once the film opens on December 22.
“The teaser is just a sign of the things to come. While seeing the rushes, our team couldn’t help but blow flying kisses on her,” Prasanna gushes, while speaking to Talkies.
Dwelling about the film, which is 75 per cent through, he points out, “It’s a characterisation-based love story. What happens when a Malakpet sub-inspector (played by Naveen Chandra) and an MBA student (Nani) from the same locality fall in love with the same girl (Keerthy) is what the film is all about.”
He reveals that Nani’s role is a complete departure from what he has done till now. “He has just passed B. Tech and has enrolled himself in a college for MBA. He’s full of spunk and the way he understands and sees love is completely different.
His role will remind you of one of the roles played by Allu Arjun in ‘Arya’ and ‘Venu’ in ‘Swayamvaram’,” he reveals, adding that he generally chants the mass mantra but Dil Raju and Nani have ensured that the mass elements were toned down to make the film appealing to audience of every ilk.
He says that his association with Nani goes a long way. “I’ve first met him six years ago for an interview while working for TV channel. He liked the way I interviewed him and said, ‘I listen to scripts on a regular basis and if I don’t like a particular script, the writer would narrate me another, requiring me to bear him for another two-and-half hours.’
He indirectly me told me to come up with something interesting for him. It worked like magic as in a short while I met him with a story. He connected to it but was not in a position to do it. I respected his honesty. It was the not the end because he was kind enough to refer me to another actor before assuring me that he would star in my second film. And here we go; ‘Nenu Local’ is my second film.”
For the film, the team has scouted locations in Kurnool, Vijayawada and Warangal but they’ve finally set the film in Hyderabad. He explains, “as soon as everything fell in place for the film, we’ve locked December 22 as the release date. Since it would be feasible for us to shoot in Hyderabad and monitor the footage often, producer Raju asked us to shift the setting to Hyderabad. We had no issues, whatsoever.”
But before ‘Nenu Local’ opens, ‘Nanna Nenu Naa Boyfriends’ will first say hello to the audience as the film, a Bekkem Venugopal production, which follows the story of a girl who accepts the proposals of three guys, is slated to hit the screens early December. Prasanna has penned the film’s screenplay and dialogues. “I might enter the big league with ‘Nenu Local’ but with ‘Nanna Nenu Naa Boyfriends’ I will earn the acceptance from the audience,” he exults.
