With latest release `Kaadhali’ starring newcomers like Pooja K Doshi, Harish Kalyan and Sai Ronak tottering at the box-office, despite a huge pre-publicity blitz, it seems that hard work and talent of newcomers is not getting due recognition.
In fact, in the last few months, more than 10 to 15 actors and actresses along with directors made their debut on big screen with films like `Ramudinta Krishnudanta ’, `Oo Pilla Nee Valla’ and `Raja Meeru Keka’ failed to set box-office on fire since audience looked the other way. Blame it on poor content or lack of poor publicity and even good number of theatres.
“It is truly a bad time for newcomers in T-town, since many actors and actresses come with dreams in their eyes but audience failed to support them since some films were really bad, while others weren’t released in proper time resulting in a poor show of small films, this season, says producer Chandralekha who says that young talent in Tamil Nadu and Kerala get due recognition.
“No doubt, Telugu viewers are star-struck. Unlike, Tamil and Malayalam film viewers who support films of newcomers if the content is good enough, so films like `Happy Days,’ Uyyala Jumpala’ and `Pellichoopulu’ seem to be an exception, since these films introduced actors, actresses and technicians in a large number,” adds producer N Padmini.
Another producer Sripada adds, “Making a film with newcomers is a daunting task, Firstly, there will be no buyers and then we don’t get good theatres due to the hegemony of theatre lesseess who determine the fate of the film even before it releases,” However, producer Raj Kandukuri and torch-bearer of films with new talent begs to differ, “May be, some films didn’t do well due to lack of content, but Telugu viewers made our film `Pellichoopulu’ a blockbuster. I am confident that my next “Mental Madilo’ will also rocks box-office since it boasts of realistic characters and storyline,”
