Veteran actor and recently turned ' Bigg Boss Tamil' host Kamal Haasan, who has been in the firing line of Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), feels that the reality show is as important cricket for the nation.
"I don't want to comment upon the complaint filed. I was been wrongly quoted for my statement on GST.'Bigg Boss' is as important as cricket for the people of this nation," he said here, while addressing the media on the issue.
Adding, "You know how difficult my profession is. In my movie 'Dasavathaaram,' people celebrated me and now they are against me. 'Bigg Boss' made it more controversial."
For the unversed, the HMK, a nationalistic Hindu party in Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday, demanded ban on the Tamil version of reality show 'Bigg Boss' and wanted its host Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan to be arrested for tarnishing the culture.
The party also complained that the contestants' portrayal in the show is a statement of disrespect towards the Tamil values.
The complaint, filed with the Chennai Commissioner, seeks arrest of the 'Chachi 420' actor, followed by an arrest of all the 14 participants of the show, for tarnishing the reputation of the State and its culture.
On this note, the actor said, "I hope the Law will protect me."
He further said, "I have been in industry for past 36 years. I have acted in bold scenes in my movies. I have done nothing of that sort in 'Bigg Boss' now."
According to the HMK, ' Bigg Boss Tamil' season one, is responsible for segregating the Indian people and deteriorating the sense of cultural values among the Indians. They claim that the show depicts obscene content and the contestants roam around in the house in an indecent way, leading to profanity.
Their accusation further stated that for the Tamil people, 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu' (Invocation to Mother Tamil) is the most crucial thing and is more precious than the inner spirit, Hence, such a program mocks the state and its people.
The petition demands an immediate ban on the show and the arrest of everyone involved- actor Kamal Hassan and all the contestants.'
On another note, speaking on Malayalam actor Dileep's arrest in regard to the south actress' abduction and molestation case, Haasan said, "I am showing solidarity to the victim. I respect the Law."
