Pooja Bhatt who is gearing up for the digital release of her film Cabaret says she didn't want to compromise with the film promotion budget and decided to wait for the release.

Pooja interacted with media alongside, Gulshan Grover and S.Shreeshant during a film promotional event on Monday.

Cabaret starring Richa Chadda was scheduled for release in 2016. When asked what took the film so long to reach the audience producer Bhatt said, "In today's time when you have such big releases coming out who have 30 crores of marketing spend, I knew we will not be able to compete with them. If people don't know that this film is releasing what is the point of releasing it then. And all of my films whether 'Jism 2', 'Jism 1' or 'Holiday', I made sure that all the films got a dignified big release, where we didnt compromise on ad, media, promotions budget.

And I did not want to compromise at this stage on 'Cabaret'. We had a first time director in he had worked with all his heart and they came with the belief that Pooja Bhatt is not a producer who will bring your aesthetics to the fore but also give it a well-deserved release."

After the set back the film is now set for a digital release as a Zee5 original on the OTT platform. Apart from Richa the film also stars, Gulshan Devaiah, S Sreesanth and Gulshan Grover.

The former actress Pooja Bhatt turned producer revealed that two years ago the partners fell short of promotional budget. She said, "Often you end up spending a lot more for the promotion then what you spend on making a movie. At the time my partners thought that we should reduce the 7.5 crores promotion budget to 3.5 crores and somehow manage to release the film and I didn't want to, so we decided to wait."

The film is based on Richa Chadda’s character of a cabaret dancer, who begins her journey from a small village of Jharkhand and wants to make it big in the world of dance. Gulshan Devaiah plays a journalist who plans to write her tragic life story.

Directed by Kaustav Narayan Niyogib, Cabaret will be available for streaming 9th Jan onwards only on Zee5.
