The cancer survival journey was a gift says Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala says now when she looks back to her survival journey she feels that it has been a gift.

Manisha Koirala interacted with media at the book launch of 'Healed: How cancer gave me a new life' on Tuesday in Mumbai. To show support Bollywood fraternity members like Rekha, Mahesh Bhatt, Anupam Kher, Sohal Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Dia Mirza and more were present at the book launch.

Asked how does she feel about surviving cancer, after having finished the book, Manisha said, " To me, this journey feels like a gift, and whenever you face some difficulties you worry but I think these difficulties are there to teach us something. They give us learning and a gift in return.

Now when I look back on the journey, it feels like it has given me so much in return. It gave me a new perspective on life, gave me courage and taught me the importance of life and health."

Manisha Koirala has written about her experience through the treatment and after in the book titled 'Healed' published by Penguin.

Talking about revisiting memories when writing the book, Manisha said, " Indeed it was very emotional, to be able to remember everything in detail was very painful. There were times when I had stopped writing the book, I thought I'll never be able to finish it. But then I picked it up because I wanted to tell the story. I wanted people to know and I wanted to encourage myself as well as other cancer patients who have been diagnosed. That hope kept me going."

Manisha was last seen in the biopic 'Sanju', alongside, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. She portrayed the role of Sanjay Dutt's mother Nargis who he lost to cancer.
