I know What I Am Worth Says Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone says that she is well aware of her worth and wouldn’t compromise on working for less as compared to her counterparts, on the sidelines of a book launch here in Mumbai.

Deepika Padukone along with Aditi Mittal and Anuradha Pal graced the Launch of the Book 'The Dot That Went For A Walk'.

Talking about pay disparity based on gender bias, Deepika stated “I know my track record and what I'm worth. I know that his films haven't been doing well as my films have been doing. It made absolutely no sense. I was okay to say no to that film based on that one thing, as I thought it was unfair”

“I don't think I'll be able to live with the thought knowing that I have been a part of a film, had the same creative contribution or bringing the same value to a film but being underpaid.”

When asked about 2018 hits and flops, where all Khan’s failed and only women-centric made money, Deepika said, “I think it is amazing, I think it is nice for us to say women-centric or female-centric at this moment where we’re talking female role models, having said that, when it comes to creativity, we need to look beyond female or male, it is about the film. If the film didn’t work, the films by Khan’s didn’t work, but there is this film, led by Ayushmann, which did work. I think it boils down to the script, but I see a trend for films that are doing better”

“We’re also in a place today, where directors are changing roles and that is unheard of. The filmmakers are flipping the roles from a male protagonist to the female protagonist, it is a huge achievement. But I don’t want to use female or male-centric idea; I think the great content worked”

On the work front, Deepika Padukone will be starring in Meghna Gulzar’s next, Chhapaak, along with Vikrant Massey. The film is based on the real-life experiences of an acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal and is produced by Fox-Star Studios.
