Yesudas wins hearts

Legendary Indian musician Dr KJ Yesudas, though a Malayali by origin won millions of hearts across the country with his mesmerising music. He enthralled the audience at the concert hosted by Eleven Point Two at Shilpakalavedika. He sang his hit songs from Telugu, Tamil and Hindi to the full house that cheered clapped and sang along.

 The repertoire of songs included ‘Gaali Vanalo’, ‘Gori Tera’, ‘Aakasadesana’, ‘Muddabanti Navvulo’, his Malayalam hit songs from films like ‘His Highness Abdulla’ including the Urdu ghazal in the film. The icing on the cake was a suprise appearance by music supremo SP Balasubramanyam who presented Yesudas with a bouquet and expressed his admiration.

Together they sang one of the most popular hits of music director Ilayaraja from the movie ‘Dalapathi’ in Tamil. Vijay Yesudas (son) and singer Kalpana accompanied the master artiste. In addition to his father’s songs Vijay entertained music lovers with his numbers from the films ‘Premam’, ‘Bangalore Days’, ‘Legend’, and ‘Sreeramadasu’. Yesudas and team ensured the audience were kept engaged in music along with some playful banter, that people lapped up with much joy.

 It was a poignant end to the programme when the great musician who can sing upto the sixth octave with ease and has sung many devotional songs in films and outside, sang, the much popular Ayyappa song - ‘Harivarasanam’.
