Kareena Kapoor Khan after 'What Women Want' has now taken up a new project to immunize India to make sure every child in the country gets vaccinated.

The actress launched a Nation-Wide Vaccination Campaign on Thursday. Mother of a two-year-old boy Taimur, Kareena at the event stressed on the need to ensure that every child gets vaccinated regularly,

On her becoming the campaign’s ambassador, Kareena said, "I feel my life is in Taimur's hands. If a mother can protect her child in any way, why shouldn’t she? The idea is to educate people, make them believe in immunization and vaccination. It was an absolute no brainer for me to be a part of this.”

Adar Poonawalla, President, Vaccine Manufacturers Association of India and CEO, Serum Institute of India (SII), Natasha Poonawalla, Executive Director, SII, and Dr Nitin Shah, section head of pediatrics department at PD Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai were also present at the event.

Kareena strongly believes in prevention is better than cure, she added, " I have always said that prevention is better than cure. We always end up spending more money in trying to cure when something like vaccination, a preventive measure is very cost effective. We should rather do that then think about the cure.

If we accept and believe in immunization we are helping protect the kid before something happen then thinking about what to do as a cure."

Kareena said the aim of the initiative is to reach people even in the most remote regions. “It’s a lot more than a digital campaign. The idea is to reach out to the remotest of villages. They either don’t have any idea or are scared or there is such female illiteracy. If we are able to spread the message and penetrate to that level, I will consider it the biggest blockbuster of my life,” she said.

Kareena will be next seen in Good News, starring Akshay Kumar, Diljeet Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. The film is about a couple trying to get pregnant.

Produced by Dharma Productions and Cape Of Good Films, the film was earlier scheduled to release on July 19 but will now hit the theatres on September 6.

Directed by Raj Mehta the film will bring back Kareena and Akshay together after hit films like Ajnabee, Kambakkht Ishq, Tashan, Aitraaz and Bewafaa.
