Strange stories make inhabitants flee village
The hamlet comes under Siddhapur panchayat. According to revenue records, under the hamlet’s limits there are 399 acres of land. No one lives in the hamlet. One can see wild growth of thorny bushes, trees and parched lands all around the hamlet.
Sadasivapet: It sounds strange, but true. There is a village that has no inhabitants. The question that can there be a village without people might stir people’s interest. Yes, it does exist. The next question is where does such a village exist? The quest leads to Yavapur, a hamlet just 2 km away from Sadasivapet.
The hamlet comes under Siddhapur panchayat. According to revenue records, under the hamlet’s limits there are 399 acres of land. No one lives in the hamlet. One can see wild growth of thorny bushes, trees and parched lands all around the hamlet.
There is a tell-tale evidence of the hamlet bustling with activity once upon a time. Now, one can only notice rampart of a fort and a temple of Lord Anjaneya Swamy in the village.
Yavapur does exist in official records – revenue, police and Tehsildar. The pattadar-passbooks given to farmers long ago record the village as Yavapuram. Industries that sprang up in the vicinity of the hamlet give their address as Yavapuram.
Nobody knows what happened to the people of the hamlet. Yavapur became popular as the hamlet without its inhabitants. We can come across houses built inside the fort here. Ramreddy, native of the neighbouring village Kambalapalli, said that village was deserted by people because of outbreak of endemic diseases.
No sign of civilization in the hamlet is attributed to floods that washed away the village, according to Manikya Rao and Akbar Hussain of Sadasivapet.
A few allege that there was a paranormal activity in Yavapur. A few circulate ghosts stories that made villagers flee in fear. Now the deserted village has become the nucleus for anti-social activities.
Some of the people living in the vicinity of the hamlet have been demanding that the Archaeological department conduct research on the existence of the hamlet to unravel the history of the village. Some others have been demanding the authorities to remove the village from the official records and merge its land with that of neighbouring Siddhapur for the good of the people.
