Karimnagar: A young BA graduate here has become the cynosure of all eyes and a toast for those with some scientific bent of mind as he has been unveiling one invention after the other a la a seasoned scientist. Despite financial constraints, his spirit is undaunted and he is bubbling with ideas.

Whether it is a contraption that allows one to switch on lights and fans just by snapping fingers or clapping; hearing aid for the stone deaf and for those who are congenitally deaf; or life jacket for women that delivers electric shock to molesters, the inventions of Srinivas are awe-inspiriting and purposeful.

Seeking to provide a ready solution to the increasing atrocities on women, the life jacket he has invented is designed to give electric shock to anyone who dares touch the wearer. It is, however, wearer-friendly. The design can be improved and the technology adapted to suit women’s attire, Srinivas says.

There are umpteen hearing aids available in the market for the hearing-impaired. But, even those who have been stone deaf right from the time of their birth and those who have no eardrum can hear with the help of his gadget that works not through the ear, but via the teeth. His invention converts sound waves into vibrations that reach the brain through the teeth. Even those who are deaf and dumb can hear with the help of his discovery.

Another invention of Srinivas is controlling household electric and electronic devices with the help of a cell phone. They can be operated and switched off by pressing the relevant number key on the mobile keypad. The mobile can be operated from any place. He has also developed a system to operate lights and fans in the household just by snapping fingers and clapping hands.

Srinivas has devised an instrument to alert him should someone break into his house. The system sends a message to Srinivas. Noticing that some farmers had lost their lives while switching on electric motors early in the mornings, two years ago he invented a system to operate motors with the help of a mobile phone or a torchlight.

This unsung ‘young scientist’, who lost his father early in life, lives in a small two-room house, along with his mother and spouse. The family owns agricultural lands that have not been tilled for years due to lack of assured irrigation facility. The subsidised rice supplied by the government to the poor is their staple food. Otherwise, he repairs mobile phones at his home to support his family.

Although the financial condition of the family deteriorated following the death of his father Mallayya, he did not lose courage and trusted his inner spark to invent one gadget or the other. Srinivas is confident of working further on his inventions for mass production, apart from creating more wonders, if the State government extends financial support.

He has designed an FM radio for the benefit of the entire village. But, it requires compliance with rules, including seeking satellite permission.
According to his admirers, Srinivas’ invention for the dumb is outstanding and unique. For, what is available in the market is only an amplifier. He wishes to make the design simpler with the help of a chip.

Srinivas’ spouse Uma says that her husband’s inventions are useful to society. “I am not worried when he spends money on inventions and discoveries.” She is confident that he would be very useful to society if someone extends a helping hand.
