Dubai: Rasamayi Balakishan, head of Telangana Culture department, addressing the preparatory meeting in the Indian Consulate-General’s office in Dubai in connection with the World Telugu Conference (WTC) on Thursday night called for efforts to enrich the Telangana brand of Telugu, which has become famous for its cultural heritage.

Rasamayi said the WTC was being organised by the TRS government to spread Telugu across Telangana. Balakishan extended an invitation to Telugus living in the Gulf to participate in the conference from December 15 to 19 in Hyderabad.

He pointed out the contribution of the State people, poets and writers to the growth of Telugu language was immense, even while maintaining that no proper exercise was undertaken in that direction.

By holding WTC, the State government felt that the efforts of Telangana Telugus in enriching Telugu literature should be propagated and abilities of renowned poets brought to the notice of the world. Telangana is known, along with good literature, for folk arts. The folk songs rendered by unlettered rural people were the real gems of Telangana, he stated.

Balakishan said banners, welcome arches, hoardings would be put up across Hyderabad during WTC on famous poets who enriched the Telangana literature. The foreign delegates to the conference would be provided stay and free food and local transportation facilities.

He said Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu would be the chief guest at WTC inaugural ceremony and President Ram Nath Kovind would attend the closing function. Delegates to WTC from the Gulf countries could register their names through a special website.
