Visakhapatnam: City police on Friday arrested a former software project manager from Hyderabad for ‘cheating’ and ‘defaming’ a girlfriend, and sent him to remand.
According to Additional District Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Mohammed Khan, the accused, Bireddy Pradeep Kumar Reddy, 32, introduced himself as a HR professional of Infosys through internet, befriended her and wanted to elope.
When she refused, he made threatening calls to her and her family. After learning that she got engaged, he sent the girl‘s photos (with him) which led to cancellation of the engagement, causing agony to her family. Following a complaint by the girl’s father on October 28, Cybercrimes Inspector BV Venkateswara Rao, SI S. Ramesh and arrested Reddy at Kavuri Hills, Madhapur. They seized a mobile phone, a laptop and a router, which he allegedly used for committing the offence.
