Hyderabad: In an incident of a bank robbery at AS Rao Nagar in Hyderabad, an amount of rupees 22lakhs and jewellary in huge quantities has been lifted by the thieves from the personal safety lockers of the customers of the bank. This incident took place around 12 a.m on Friday.
According to the bank sources, it was learnt that apart from the jewellary safeguarded in the lockers by the owners of the lockers, an amount of rupees 22 lakhs belonging to the bank has also been stolen from the lockers.
From the other side, the Kushaiguda police, who rushed the spot immediately after getting the information, have spoken to media and said only the jewellary secured in the safety lockers by the customers has been lifted by the robbers. No further details like the qty of stolen jewellary items etc have been disclosed by the police. They clarified that no cash has been stolen from the bank.
In front of the bank, near its main entry, there have been no CCTVs deployed; and also no security guard is employed to safeguard the bank after the working hours.The CCTV footages have been examined by the police to identify the thieves. So far, unofficially, it was learnt that a team of four members have involved in this incident.
The customers who heard the news through HMTV exclusive telecast, at once reached the bank to know about their locker status. More details awaited.
