Mumbai: Man kills wife, chops body into three

A 27-year-old man, allegedly killed his wife and chopped her body into three pieces in their flat, was arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday evening.

According to police it was reliably learnt that Girish Kote stabbed his wife Madhuwanti, cut her body into three pieces and covered them up using plastic and duct-tape. He allegedly kept two parts in the fridge and a third part in the bedroom of their 14th floor upscale apartment of the Nakshatra Towers high-rise in Bhayandar (East) on the outskirts of Mumbai. The couple have a two-year-old child who reportedly stays with Kote's mother.

Supposedly Kote called an auto-driver whom he knew earlier for help to dispose of his wife's body.

The police arrived at the flat after a call from the auto-driver.

Police sources say Kote, worked in a showroom, and he has repeatedly changed his statements and has not revealed any motive till now. according to the neigbours and other reliable sources the couple apparently had frequent fights over their financial problems.

The police is still not clear when the killing took place.
