16 notorious criminals held for murder, burglary

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested 16 persons involved in dacoity, burglary and murder incidents reported in Cyberabad police limits over the past few months. Addressing media persons on Monday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said all the 16 were arrested by a special team from different areas of the city.

3 held for watchman’s murder

Shamshabad police arrested Rachamalla Rakesh, 24, Kelu Sriram, 18, and Vikas Mehta, 20, in connection with the murder of the watchman, Shankaraiah, and his friend, Jayappa, at IIFL premises on the intervening night of March 23 and 24.

Dacoit gang busted

Sleuths of Special Operation Team (SOT) busted a dacoit gang on a tip off and arrested P Venkateshwar Rao, 37, Pala Shiva, 49, Neelam Sriram Vijay, 30, Pala Vijay, 22, Pala Karna Kumar, 23, Pala Jashuwa, 18, and Pala Geetha, 36. “Venkateshwar Rao, who is the kingpin of the gang, is involved in as many as 86 dacoites since 1984. He has been in jail for about 15 years and even from jail he organised dacoities through members of his gang,” said C V Anand.

Five notorious housebreaking offenders under Malkajgiri, Rajendranagar and Saroornagar police limits were also arrested by the Cyberabad police. They were identified as S Venkateshwarlu, 30, C Ravi, 28, M Ashok, 25, M Naresh, 30, and S Venkata Ramana, 35.

Acting on a tip-off, CCS Malkajgiri apprehended a notorious snatcher Md Afsar Ali Jafri, 26, a native of Maharashtra, for committing chain-snatching offences. “He committed offences of snatching and attention diversion by targeting unaccompanied women,” said the CP.

Police said they recovered 2 kg of gold, 4 kg of silver, cash of Rs 75 lakh, a revolver, a car and two motorbikes from their possession.
