Burglers strike mobile shop, pawn broker shop

20 lakh worth mobiles, Rs 1 lakh cash from a mobile shop and Rs 1.5 lakh worth items from a pawnshop stolen in Karkhana

It was a big heist for thieves who raided Sangeetha Mobiles and a pawn broker shop, Ramdev & Co, in Karkhana, in the wee hours on Tuesday. Rs 20 lakh worth of mobile phones, Rs 1 lakh cash from the mobile store and Rs 1.5 lakh worth of items from the pawnshop were reportedly stolen.Y Nageswara Rao, station house officer, Karkhana police station, said, “Detective V Nagaiah and his team are on the job to find clues through video footage at the mobile shop.

The criminals easily gained entry into the shop through the pawnshop. Adjacent to the pawnshop is an old structure. The thieves gained entry through it. They first broke open the shutters of the pawn shop, made a big hole in the wall and snatched 150 mobile phones. From the pawnshop, they stole gold rings and other smaller items.” Naresh Goud, store manager, Sangeetha Mobiles, said, “In the early hours on Tuesday, I received an alert at 3.30 am after an alarm went off at the shop. From my residence in Neredmet, I immediately rushed to the shop by 4 am. However, I found nothing suspicious and went back home.

When we came back to open the shop at 10 am, to our surprise, we found a big hole on the wall on the rear side and found that many mobiles were missing. We immediately informed the Karkhana Police. The police took the video footage where they found two people in the age group of 25 to 30 removing the articles.”Mohan Lal, owner of the pawnshop, said, “Gold rings worth Rs 1.50 lakh have been stolen. It is shocking to know about the theft. I appeal to the police to nab the culprits at the earliest.”
