Youth loses father, yet appears for EAMCET

Nalgonda: He had just seen his father’s death in a ghastly accident. Yet Devanka Uday Kumar, a youth from Bhongir, summoned all courage and determination to realise his father’s dream and appeared for the EAMCET examination at Nagarjuna Government Degree College here on Thursday.

His father Raghavender was taking him to the examination centre when their two-wheeler was hit by a lorry near MG University. Raghavender died on the spot. They would have reached their destination in just five minutes, but alas. Passers-by were moved to tears as the youth broke down and wept inconsolably near his father’s body. Raghavender was working as an electrician in a private firm in Bhongir.

Police shifted the body to the government hospital in the town. Uday Kumar, meanwhile, was persuaded by friends and well-wishers to appear for EAMCET.

Overcoming the immense grief, he went to the exam centre. After the exam, the boy left in a vehicle, carrying his father’s body, for his home town.
