Hyderabad: Two labourers were killed in a wall collapse in the cellar of a multiplex which is under the construction at the erstwhile Sangeet Theatre in Secunderabad on Saturday. The management of the Sangeet theatre recently took up the construction of the multiplex by demolishing the old theatre structure. The construction work was underway for the last several weeks. On Saturday, a wall in the multiplex cellar collapsed when the work was in progress and buried two of the workers alive. Their bodies were recovered from the debris.

The deceased workers were identified as Sharada from Karimnagar district and Rajaiah from Warangal. They were engaged in construction work for the last five years and were living near Addagutta. City Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain said criminal cases would be booked against the owner and builder - PQ Associates. He added that though building permission was given by the GHMC, the norms were violated.

Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, said that action would be initiated after thorough inquiry against the erring Town Planning officials who had failed to inspect the site regularly and submit a report. He directed P Venkata Rami Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Planning), to cancel the building permission immediately and ensure that criminal cases would be booked against the builder and owner.
