Pornography cases double up just in a year

The internet which is also known as the eighth wonder of the world has not only has its impact positively on the masses, but also in a negative way. According to the statistics available with the Union government, the pornographic cases including child pornography through internet across the country in 2012-2013 have doubled up to the previous year’s statistics.
Of those total 1,203 cases which were reported last year, 589 cases occurred alone in Andhra Pradesh leads the nation in this with 234 cases reported. A 74% hike in the cases was seen in Andhra Pradesh. Kerala with 177 cases stood at second in position.
There are 737 arrests made across the country in these cases and most of them (167) were made in Uttar Pradesh and 130 in Maharashtra. However there is a dearth of data regarding the child pornography cases which are proving to be a hurdle for the allocation of resources for training, law enforcement and understanding of how to conduct investigations into such cases which are required by international laws in protecting the rights of children.
