Hyderabad: Nampally court remanded Patan Kumar Poddar to seven days of police custody on Monday in connection with the espionage charges for allegedly passing information on Defence installation in the city to a Pakistani spy, who befriended him on social networking site.

Patan, a naik subedar, who was posted as 151 MC/MF detachment of Secunderabad Railway station, was produced before Nampally court here on Monday for leaking 'sensitive' information of the Defence units to Pakistan.

Hyderabad CCS ACP G Jogaiah, who is investigating the case, in his remand application on August 8, had sought from court seven days custody of the 40-year-old naik subedar for further questioning in the case.

The CCS sleuths, who caught Poddar, a native of West Bengal, registered a criminal case under Officials Secrets Act and moved the court seeking his custody.
