Ramagundam (Karimnagar): Police arrested three persons and recovered 600 kg copper wire and an auto trolley from them.
Speaking to the mediapersons here on Thursday, Circle Inspector Narayana Naik said that K Odelu, Sunkanna and Raju have formed into a gang and started stealing copper wire from electric transformers which were set up by farmers at their agriculture fields. He said the gang was involved in various cases of stealing of copper wire in Karimnagar and Adilabad districts for the last four months.
Narayana Naik said that police have found copper wire from the scrap shop of Sunkanna at Ramagundam during routine inspection.
When police questioned Sunkanna about the copper wire, CI said that he confessed that he had joined hands with Odelu and Raju and all three of them stole the copper wire at different places.
The Circle Inspector said that farmers had filed 26 cases at various police stations about the copper wire missing from transformers.
Narayana Naik said that the modus operandi of the gang was to steal the copper wire and sell it in the market in Hyderabad.
