About 150 alleged smugglers from Tamil Nadu on seeing the forest staff fled the spot. Special parties have been deployed to nab the absconding smugglers, said Badvel Forest Range Officer Swamy Vivekananda.

They seized red sanders logs worth Rs.35.3 lakh, a mini-lorry, three two-wheelers, eight cell phones, said SP Dr Navin Gulati. He said that a special police party confiscated, after conducting searches, 55 red sanders and arrested some smugglers in railwaykodur and chitvel areas of Rajampet sub-division. In badvel, a mini-lorry was seized while carrying red sanders. Vinod kumar, naresh kumar of Chennai and suresh, sahadevan of Nellore along with three others were arrested.
