Hyderabad: The absconding driver of the DCM van, which had hit an RTC bus on NH-44 near Bowenpally check post on Tuesday morning resulting in the death of the RTC driver, was arrested on Thursday by the Bowenpally police. The accused Moinuddin, 42, a native of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, was reportedly arrested on Thursday, after the police questioned the owner of the transport company about his whereabouts and the vehicle (AP 05 8711).

“Moinuddin has given a preliminary statement that he was driving at a high speed at the check post near Sri Latha Gardens, where he collided head-on with the RTC bus moving in the opposite direction,” said Bowenpally SI, K Srinivas Rao adding that Moinuddin was arrested under Section 304 A (Causing death due to negligence) of the IPC.

Immediately after the mishap, the van driver, who suffered minor injuries, fled from the incident site. The police produced him in a local court which remanded him to police custody.
