2.5 kg heroin seized; 16 arrested
The police arrested a 16-member gang on Friday and recovered 2.5 kg of heroin worth Rs 1 crore from them. Among them seven are B Tech students.

Anantapur: The police arrested a 16-member gang on Friday and recovered 2.5 kg of heroin worth Rs 1 crore from them. Among them seven are B Tech students.
SP Rajasekhar Babu produced the accused before the media here. He said all the members are aged below 25 years. Among the students, six are from Kadapa, one from Chittoor. A B Tech student Kiran of Chittoor purchased heroin in Tamil Nadu for Rs 13 lakh and sold the same to Vijayan and Satya of Velur district for Rs 60 lakh. Obulesu, Sridhar and Nagaraju of Anantapur purchased the drug from the duo and sold it to six B Tech students of Proddatur in Kadapa district.
Stating that the accused revealed during the interrogation that they entered the drug business to earn easy money, the SP suggested that the parents should keep a close eye on the children.
