Hyderabad: A pregnant woman was found murdered in the early hours on Saturday at Budvel Railway Station Basti near Kattedan in Rajendranagar area.

According to Mailardevpally police, the deceased has been identified as Rama Devi, 35. She was living alone in a small room, along with her 5-year-old daughter. After her husband Srinu died of snake bite, Rama shifted her family from Raichur (Karnataka) to the city, in search of lively hood. It is believed that she was pushed into prostitution for sustaining the family. Several lorry drivers used to enter her house through a damaged wall, bordering huge parking facility. Police believe that the bricks were intentionally removed in the recent months. As part of this transformation, she gradually turned herself into a drunkard.

One of the strange aspects which came to light is her relationship with an advocate, who wanted her to become a surrogate mother. According to locals, this advocate wanted her to rent her womb, for his baby. When the police reached the spot, they found the woman's almirah opened. Missing items could only be known when her brother Ramesh, resident of Raichur, came to the city, said police.

Police are trying to identify the murderer, with the help of her 5-year-old daughter, who was with her when Rama was killed. A case was registered under Section 302 (murder). “As her character was questionable, we do not think it could be a case of rape-murder. We are investigating the case,” said S N Jaweed, Inspector, Mailardevpally.
