Kadapa: The recent grisly murder of five members of a family took a dramatic twist on Thursday after local big-wig Rajaratnam Isaac was taken into custody by the police. Initially, the police denied his role in the killings; but evidence supporting his hand in the ghastly killing is now available.

His son, Kripakar Issac, married Mounika in 2004 against Rajaratnam’s will. Unable to bear this, the latter planned to eliminate his daughter-in-law. He poisoned his son’s mind by tarnishing Mounika’s character. He could succeed in making Kripakar suspect her fidelity.

Rajaratnam had an agreement with car driver Ramanjaneya Reddy for killing Mounika. He paid Rs 2 lakh for the murder. Her body was buried in the school being run by the family. He offered to transfer the school in Reddy’s name if his three grand-children were killed. Reddy murdered the children and buried them in the school. Kripakar objected to transfer of the school. To get hold of the school, Reddy eliminated Kripakar and buried him too. Shocked by the incident, Rajaratnam wanted to take revenge. He allegedly hired miscreants to kill Reddy for Rs 15 lakh. Knowing this, the driver approached the police and narrated the various incidents. The police unearthed the property documents buried in the school.

Rajaratnam who had gone to Chennai for treatment was brought here by the police. His interrogation is on. The DEO cancelled the school’s registration.
