Hyderabad: The Saifabad police achieved a breakthrough in the 8 kg gold robbery case, which occurred on October 12 at Lakdi-ka-pul. They recovered 5 kg gold and arrested two of the gang members on Wednesday. According to sources, police caught two gang members and seized the gold. They began a manhunt for others involved in the heist. However, officials refused to divulge further details of the case.

It may be recalled that a four-member gang robbed businessmen of 8 kg of gold they were carrying. Four employees of Mumbai-based MBS Jewellers were awaiting a private travels bus to Bangalore with a bag of gold near Lakdi-ka-pul at around 10.30 pm on Sunday. Suddenly, four persons arrived on two bikes, pretending to be policemen and asked them to disclose the contents of their bag.

After the businessmen were compelled to do so, they seized bag, claiming that the gold was without proper papers. They asked them to claim the bag from police station and fled the spot. The businessmen, who remained spellbound, later lodged complaint with the Saifabad police on Monday.
