Five persons were killed when a lorry hit an auto-rickshaw at Bayyannagudem in Penuballi mandal of Khammam district early on Tuesday.

Sathupalli (Khammam): Five persons were killed when a lorry hit an auto-rickshaw at Bayyannagudem in Penuballi mandal of Khammam district early on Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased belonging to one family were natives of Tekulapalli in Penuballi mandal. They had gone to Kanchikacherla in Krishna district in the auto. They were eking out their livelihood by organising decorated bull shows.
The victims had gone to Kanchikacherla to attend Uppalamma Pooja. On the return journey, one person alighted near Bayyannagudem to attend to nature’s call. The others proceeded.
Within a few minutes, a lorry, coming in the opposite direction from Penuballi hit the vehicle. Panku Narsimha (40), Gopi (30), Mareshu (15) and Veeraiah (38), all belonging to one family, and autor driver Anjaiah died on the spot. Sathupalli DSP took the lorry driver into custody.
The bodies were shifted to local government hospital. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the mortuary, as the family members wept inconsolably.
