Adilabad: District police cracked a robbery case and took into custody on Thursday two members of an inter-State gang. They seized gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 6 lakh.

An official release said the seized ornaments pertained to the burglary in Vishwakarma Jewellery shop at Devichand Chowk, here, on September 27. Unidentified miscreants had decamped with a safe containing the gold ornaments. A case was registered by Adilabad One Town police.

The release said a special team constituted by SP Gajarao Bhupal under the supervision of ASP D Joyal Davis took the support of computer expert Sanjeev Sekhar to trace the gang. The team visited Delhi and Uttarakhand and investigated for 22 days to nab accused Jaswanth Singh alias Jassa (30) and Satnam Singh alias Satnam (30), natives of Uttarakhand.

According to the police, seven gang members had plotted to commit robberies in jewellery shops in Hyderabad. They left Delhi in a white Scorpio on September 21. They dropped plans to commit robberies in Charminar and in a shop in the Mahankali area, after finding CCTV cameras.

The gang broke into the shop on the night of September 27, taking away silver articles from a safe, and the safe itself. They broke open the safe after crossing Pipparawada Toll Plaza and lifted the jewellery.

The SP and ASP announced special reward to the team members CI Bucchi Reddy, SIs Pullaiah, Sanjeev, Anjamma, HCs Siraj Khan, Appa Rao, Maniram, Ujjwala, PCs Syed Zakhir Ali, Zameer, Gangadhar, Kareem, Javed and Nagaraj.
