Prime Minister Narendra Modi right after assuming office of the highest post started meeting premiers of various nations across the world, inviting them to invest in India.
For those who are apprehensive about delays in projects and corruption, he promised them hassle free process in giving them sanctions and green signal.
However, in spite of all the tall promises he made, ground reality is yet to change as it is been merely 6 months since the change of guard at the centre. To top it, each state has its own industrial policy which hampers investments in the country.
Under these circumstances forget about MNCs even local companies find it difficult to get projects or make investments in India.
This is because bribe is a must to get a file passed from one department in India. One is also required to pay a certain amount (what is called chai pani paisa) to get a project sanctioned, local MLAs expect their share too.
Even after all this, local leaders water down the good intentions of companies by demanding a huge percentage in each and every deal.
Unless and until this entire process changes, it will be difficult for companies to invest in India. Best example is the new state of Andhra Pradesh which is throwing many opportunities for projects and investments. However, MLAs compete with each other to get their share before sanctioning anything.
