Chain-snatcher slits woman’s throat
A 40-year-old woman’s throat was slit in a knife attack by a man who snatched her gold chain in Hakeempet, near Tolichowki. The culprit was arrested by Banjara Hills police, while the condition of the woman is said to be serious.

According to police, Shahnawaz, 25, familiar to Tahera Begum, a resident of Hakeempet, knocked at the doors and entered the house on the pretext handing over a wedding card.
After, she had turned towards kitchen to make tea for him, the accused tried to snatch the gold chain she was wearing by cutting it with knife. However, she was seriously injured in the melee and was immediately rushed to a private hospital. The police arrested the accused and began investigation into the incident.
Notorious chain-snatcher held
The Osmania University police arrested a notorious snatcher involved 10 cases, including nine chain snatchings and one mobile snatching case. They recovered property worth Rs 9 lakh. According to police, the accused Md Jahangeer alias Parvez Baba, 29, supplier of building raw material, is resident of Pahadishareef, Rangareddy district.
He was arrested while the crime team was conducting routine vehicle check up on Monday morning at Habsiguda, near OU. They recovered 10 gold chains and one Samsung S3 mobile. The modus operandi of the accused involved targeting women on a stolen vehicle while they are moving alone in isolated locations on the roads.
“After committing offence, the accused would abandon the vehicle at busy parking areas. He was also arrested previously in snatching cases under various police stations limits in Hyderabad and Cyberabad during 2009, 2011 and 2013,” said V Ashok Reddy, Inspector of Police.
