Held for killing wife

Nandyal: Ravi, resident of Ponnapuram Colony, was arrested on Wednesday for killing his wife Mounika (22). She was found murdered at her residence on December 21.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, CI Sivaprasad said that the accused was absconding from the day his wife was murdered.

Hence, the police suspected his role and launched a man-hunt to nab the accused.

It is learnt the Ravi used to harass his wife. He reportedly had forced his wife to undergo abortion. The couple used to have quarrel regularly over the issue. Ravi hatched a conspiracy to eliminate his wife and mixed poison in coconut water and offered it to her on December 21.

When everybody was fast asleep at his residence, he woke up and throttled his wife with a towel and slept as usual. The next morning, he feigned ignorance and made his family members and colony people believe that she died in sleep.

However, the police, who witnessed strangulation marks on the neck, grew suspicious and launched probe into the death. On investigation, truth came to light. Therefore, police arrested the accused and sent to remand.
